Parks and Recreation Public Hearing Details Ice Rink Proposal

By Michelle Murdock, Freelance Writer

On Thursday, November 17, Room 2121 at Town Hall was filled to overflowing for the Parks and Recreation Public Hearing to gather feedback from residents about the use of the 19 acre parcel of land given by Legacy Farms for community use.

One proposal being considered, as a result of a recent Parks and Recreation survey, is an ice rink. Demons Youth Hockey President Jack Bloomer explained the plans which have already been presented to the Board of Selectmen.

The proposal from Demons is another public/private partnership, similar to the agreement with Hopkinton Youth Soccer that built the Fruit Street soccer fields.

"We have an opportunity to do something about that now, with no tax payer money," said Bloomer, "and maybe even bring some money into the community."
