Scholastic Art Awards at Hopkinton High

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

52 high school students recently earned state level awards in the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards, setting a new school record.

Out of the 52 awardees, 13 won Gold Keys, 13 earned Silver Keys, and 26 received Honorable Mentions. Those students who won a Gold Key will now have their work judged in a national competition in New York. And the 26 students who received either Gold or Silver Keys, will have their work exhibited in Boston. Speaking with HCAM News, Art Teacher Marion Strangfeld believes that Hopkinton's success stems from the fact that the high school offers a diverse selection of art classes in which students are required to take part in in order to graduate.

This year, there were close to fourteen thousand entries across the state. Strangfeld, a former judge for the contest, does not envy the decisions that this year's judges had to make.

The High School students placed in every category that they submitted to, including painting, graphic art, photography, ceramics and fashion design. To see all of the winning submissions, visit , the HCAM photo website.
