By Tom Nappi, News Director

The Board of Selectmen honored Bill Lukey who is retiring after 32 years of service to the Hopkinton Fire Department. In the clip below, Mr. Lukey spoke at the meeting before receiving a gift card to Blissful Meadows Golf Club from Town Manager Norman Khumalo on behalf of the town.

Lukey mentioned he became a Fire Fighter through connections made with the Fire Department, such as then Chief Arthur Stewart through his Grandfathers business. "It all started back when my Grandfather had the business in town here, at one time there was 3 manufactures of fire apparatus and his was one of them." Lukey mentioned he enjoyed helping people and interacting with the community; "I appreciate you guys, I appreciate working for the town, to the citizens, thank you for a lifetime career."

HFD Press Release:
"The Hopkinton Fire Department would like to send out a special thanks to Firefighter William Lukey as he serves his final tour of duty for the Town today. Bill joined the department back in 1983 as a call/volunteer firefighter and then in 1989 committed himself to a career of public service. We are all lucky to have worked alongside Bill through the years as shared his wonderful humor, wisdom and firefighting experience. So after more than 32 years of service and commitment to our Town, we say farewell to Bill and wish him the best in his retirement years."
