The community was invited down to the Hopkinton Middle School library for a question and answer session with the finalist for the Assistant Superintendent of curriculum position, Dr. Carol Cavanaugh.

She is a founding partner in Brunell and Cavanaugh Consulting, an education consulting business (1999-present). She has previously served as English Teacher/Department Chair and Assistant Principal (2005-2015) for the Westborough Public Schools, and began her career in education as an English teacher and Department Chair in the Auburn Public Schools (1994-2005)."

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Cathy MacLeod mentioned the process started with 53 applicants responding and those applicants were first screened down to 18 and then narrowed down to 6. The final 6 candidates were brought in for the first tier of interviews with administrators, teachers and parents. The participants of the first tier of interviews narrowed it down to 3 candidates. The 3 remaining candidates met with the central office for a 2nd tier of interviews and from there Dr. Cavanaugh was chosen. Dr. MacLeod mentioned that staff went to Uxbridge to meet with administrators and coworkers of Dr. Cavanaugh and the meeting with the School Committee and Public Q&A was the final step in the process. Dr. MacLeod's final recommendation will be made to the School Committee, during their meeting on March 25th.
