Video Segment: Rick and Dick Hoyt Visit Elmwood School

Rick and his Father Dick Hoyt told their story at Elmwood School. The father and son are well known for competing in the Boston Marathon in addition to other marathons, triathalons and athletic competitions. At birth Rick Hoyt was born a spastic quadriplegic with cerebral palsy but that has not stopped the father and son from competing in over 1000 athletic events and they are a prime example showing that anything is possible. This year they brought their message to Elmwood School of Yes you can.

HCAM News talked with Rick's Father Dick Hoyt: "When Rick was born, they didn't want us going to restaurants, they didn't want him going to school, they didn't want us competing in the Boston Marathon or road races and now we are wanted all over the world." Dick Hoyt talked about a number of trips to various countries the Father and Son will be doing to help grow team Hoyt throughout the world. Team Hoyt will soon be heading to Italy as well as a race in New Bedford. Dick mentioned in addition to the Team Hoyt in New England a Team Hoyt has been started in many other states and countries including Virginia, San Diego, Canada and soon will be started in Japan.

Rick and Dick Hoyt have competed in over 1,000 athletic competitions and will continue to participate in more. At the age of 75, Dick mentioned he will be taking a break from Marathons but Rick will still compete in this years Boston Marathon with a family friend and Dentist from Billerica Bryan Lyons.
