After defeating Needham 12-0 in a mercy ruled 5 inning game on Saturday June 6th, the Hillers softball team was forced to take on Notre Dame Academy out of Hingham the day after (Sunday June 7th) and fell 3-1. In the Top of the 3rd freshman Kayleigh Macdonald put ND up 1-0 with a solo Home Run. Hillers responded in the bottom of the 3rd with an RBI single by Lizzy Kelley to tie up the game at 1-1 heading to the 4th. To begin the top of the 4th Hulme gave up a single and walk and with 2 outs Bridget Dilworth hit a 2 RBI single to put ND up 3-1. That would end up being the final result as Kristen Page pitched a terrific game for Notre Dame going all 7 innings and giving up 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 7. Hulme struck out 12 and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. The Hillers finished the season 20 and 2 overall. Congratulations on a terrific season Hillers softball.
The semi-finals of the South Division 1 bracket put Notre Dame Academy up against Taunton at Taunton High School. (Taunton was the scheduled neutral site for the semi-finals prior to the season starting.) On the other side of the bracket, it was 20-1 Silver Lake VS 19-2 King Phillip. Taunton took down Notre Dame Acedemy 9-2 while Silver Lake beat King Phillip 8-6 in 11 innings. Silver Lake took the championship over Taunton 4-2 and advanced to the Division 1 final 4 in the State.
Division 1 Final 4 in the state feature: Methuen representing the North VS Silver Lake out of the South, St Peter Marian out of the Central VS Agawam out of the West.
