The Elementary School Building Committee presented their budget proposal for the Elmwood school replacement to the select board.
The revised construction estimate presented was approximately 10.2 million dollars less than back in March 2023. The project is expected to receive about 50 million dollars in reimbursements including 44-46 million from the Massachusetts school building authority, 2 million from the Mass Save Program and 5 million dollars in inflation reduction act rebates.
Town residents would be responsible for approximately 105 to 108 million dollars of the approximately 153 million dollar project.
The select Board voted in favor of the proposal. 4 voted for and chair, Muriel Kramer abstained. The proposal will be voted on at a Special Town Meeting that is estimated to be scheduled in sometime late October or November. 2/3rd's of voters must approve at the Special Town Meeting and a Special Town Election would follow.
