Senate Passes Legislation to Collect Vital Public Health Data, Establish a COVID-19 Diversity Task Force

The Massachusetts State Senate on Thursday passed bipartisan legislation to promote equity and transparency as the Commonwealth continues to confront the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bill, An Act Addressing COVID-19 Data Collection and Disparities in Treatment, will increase the amount of statewide, publicly available data as it relates to the coronavirus. The legislation also establishes a task force to study and make policy recommendations to address health disparities for underserved and underrepresented communities during the pandemic. The bill advanced to the governor.

2020 Boston Marathon Canceled

For the first time since 1918, the Boston Marathon has been cancelled. The race was originally scheduled for April 20th and then later rescheduled for September 14th but Boston Mayor, Marty Walsh along with officials agreed it would not be possible to host the Marathon this year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

This year Hopkinton celebrated Memorial Day while social distancing due to the Corona Virus. American Legion Post 202 Adjutant, Michael Whalen hosted and the ceremony. Speakers included State Representative, Carolyn Dykema, State Senate President, Karen Spilka and Hopkinton Select Board Vice-Chair, John Coutinho among others. Community Notice: Fire Flow Test on Thursday May 28th

Please be advised that a required fire flow test will take place Thursday, May 28th, at approximately 7:00AM. Crews will be testing the fire pump system on South Street. Because these tests will take place on main transmission lines, customers may notice some discoloration during and after the tests throughout town. Please avoid doing any laundry, dishwasher loads or other water use activities, during this time. Any discoloration that may occur will eventually dissipate. Please check your water before using it.
