Patricia M. Helmuth, 73, died suddenly at home on Monday, February 11, 2013. She was the wife of the late Ronald Helmuth, who died in February 1994. Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Helen (Barry) Bossa.

She was employed by Honeywell for 29 years, retiring in August 2010. She was also employed by the Hopkinton Treasurer’s Office for many years. She volunteered yearly with the Hopkinton Marathon Committee.

Rev. James F. Degnan, 83, passed away suddenly, Sunday, February 10th, at Massachusetts General Hospital with his family by his side. He recently celebrated his 58th anniversary of ordination on February 2, 2013.

Born in Lawrence on September 12, 1929, Fr. Jim was one of three children of the late James T. and Anna (Larose) Degnan. He was raised as a member of St. Patrick Parish, and attended St. Patrick Grammar School. He graduated as a honor roll student from Central Catholic High School with the class of 1947.

Violette S. Bowker, 86, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Holden, MA. She was the widow of the late Raymond E. Bowker, who died in December 1981. Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Cecile (Dionne) Lauze.

She was a member of the Hopkinton Historical Society and St. John's Altar Guild. She was well-known as a seamstress in the area.

John A. "Jack" McKenzie, 75

John A. "Jack" McKenzie, 75, died Monday, January 21, 2013 in Worcester. He was the husband of Ann (Hession) McKenzie, to whom he was married for 49 years. Born in Waltham, he was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (O'Brien) McKenzie. He was a 1956 graduate of Waltham High School and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a master plumber and was a member of the Local 12 Plumbers and Gas Fitters Union.

Shannon Elizabeth McBride, 42, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Shannon was a true inspiration to all who knew her, full of grace, compassion and deep love. Despite her many medical challenges, she had an undeniable zest for life. She graduated from Lasell College with a degree in Early Childhood Education, and was an educator in every sense. Whether it was helping raise children, speaking in the medical community, or teaching us all how to see the beauty of life, Shannon used her life experiences as a means to help others.

Clara Marie Lerman, 55, of Hopkinton, passed away unexpectedly after
sixteen years of declining health, on December 18, 2012. Born in Cuba, NY,
she was the daughter of Clara (Korka) Smith of Cuba, NY and the late Oren
Smith. She was the wife of 21 years to Marc R. Lerman of Hopkinton.

Clara had her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from St. Bonaventure
in Orleans, NY. A very intelligent and empathetic woman, she was a poet
and loved writing.
