Hiller Hockey

The JV's lost to Belllingham Thursday night by a score of 5-1. Ryan Cunniff had the goal assisted by TJ Fujiyoshi and Kyle Canty.

The Varsity took on Leominster Saturday and fell by a score of 7-2. Cam Finlayson had both goals. Jordan Carroll assisted on both goals and Stephen McCluskey also had a helper. The Hillers were out shot 25 to 11 and went 0-2 on the power play and killed off 2 of 3 penalties.

Eloise M. Seely, 87

Eloise M. Seely, 87, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 with family by her side in Milford, MA. She was the widow of Vernon G. Seely who died in October 1998. Born in Syracuse, OH, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Crooks) Edwards.

Acquaintances of Paul Phipps are invited to be present while the American Legion McDonough-Carlberg Post 202, conducts a prayer and salute at Paul's coffin at the Callanan Cronin Funeral Home, 34 Church Street, Hopkinton, MA. The tribute will begin at 1450hours (2:50 pm) on Friday, immediately prior to scheduled calling hours which are Friday, December 28 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

MA Unemployment Numbers for November

The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development today reported that the November 2012 seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates were down in eleven areas; unchanged in four areas; and up in seven areas over the month. Over the year, the rates are down in eighteen areas; two areas went up; and two areas were unchanged.

Statewide, the November seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate was 6.1 percent, down 0.1 of a percentage point. Over the year, the statewide unadjusted rate was down 0.3 of a percentage point from the November 2011 unadjusted rate of 6.4 percent.

Paul M. Phipps, 91

Paul M. Phipps, 91, a lifelong Hopkinton resident, died Sunday, December 23, 2012 after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Ruth (Berry) Phipps, to whom he was married for 69 years. He was the son of the late Arthur and Minnie (Metivier) Phipps.

Carolyn E. (Doran) Chace, 87

Carolyn E. (Doran) Chace, 87, died Saturday, December 15, 2012 in Worcester. A dedicated teacher in the Dover School system for 20 years, she loved travel and adventure and had a passion for life. She was the widow of John A. Chace and is survived by her daughter Gretchen H. Dalak, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
