Hopkinton Hillers News & Notes: September 8th 2021

The Hopkinton Hillers got wins in the Boys Soccer and Girls Volleyball season openers, Girls Soccer fell short in their opener and Golf hung on for a win versus Norwood!

Boys Soccer
-Hopkinton Starts off the season with a 2-0 win at home over Medfield.
Big afternoon for the 3 captains! Tora Ito records a Goal and Assist, Owen Schnur with an Assist and Andrew Gaughan with a goal. Keeper, Max Nye makes several big saves in the shutout win. Hopkinton (1-0-0) Medfield (0-1-0).

Janet Ellen Titus, 65, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island passed away at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket on Monday, September, 6, 2021. Born in Milford, she was the daughter of the late Ruth (Ingalls) and Clyde Rice. She was the beloved wife of 44 years to Gregory Titus.

Our 44th edition of HCAM Sports Talk takes place on Wed, September 8th 2021 at 2pm. In the episode, we'll check in with Hopkinton Hillers Girls Soccer and Football and then Kevin Stone from the New England Football Journal and Andy Barron from MyFm 101.3 join us to talk Football and to make our Week 1 NFL Picks.

We have a new time starting this week (September 8th)! Tune in to HCAM Sports Talk every Wednesday at 2pm on HCAM-TV (Comcast: Channel 8, Verizon Channel 30) or at our YouTube page. The program will also re-air at other times and days throughout the week!

Taps on the Common, Sunday, Sep. 5th, 7:00 pm

“Taps” traditionally serves two important purposes. At military outposts around the world, it is played in the evening to signal the time for quiet, rest and reflection after a day of duty. It is mandated by the Department of Defense to be sounded live by a bugler, if possible, at the funeral of each and every American veteran as a final tribute to that individual veteran’s honorable time of service to his or her country.

2020 was an odd year for most things and High School football in the state of Massachusetts was certainly very different for all including the Hopkinton Hillers. Last years High School Football season was a shortened season that featured no playoff games and an all Divisional schedule and it took place in March and April. Hopkinton finished last season with 2 wins and 3 losses but our looking forward to what will hopefully be a normal season starting in September.
