Carolyn Jeanne Anderson, 71

Carolyn Jeanne Anderson, 71, of Hopkinton residing in Millbury, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Herbert F. and Jeanne H. Cook. She was the wife of 16 years of the late Albin Anderson Jr.

Carolyn was a secretary for the Hopkinton school system for over 30 years. Her family was of the utmost importance to her and her grandchildren were how she defined her retired life. Throughout her life, antique cars, Eastern Star and enjoying the small things were priority.

State Legislative, Education Leaders Announce Student Opportunity Act

Today, the Joint Committee on Education released the Student Opportunity Act.

The Student Opportunity Act:

• Makes an unprecedented $1.5 billion investment in Massachusetts public education. Assuming inflation, over time the bill could provide an estimated $2.2 billion.

• Significantly helps school districts that serve high percentages of low-income students.

Video: Hillers Girls Volleyball Stays Undefeated with Win over Barnstable

This past Friday, Hiller Girls Volleyball met up with D1 powerhouse, Barnstable at the Hopkinton Athletic Center. The Hiller Girls played an outstanding game and took down Barnstable in 4 sets (25-17, 22-25, 25-17, 25-17).

Senior, Angie Grameier contributed 12 Kills, 2 Aces, a block, 13 Digs and 20 Assists. The Hillers also had heavy contributions from Amelia Senseney, Mirabella Paolucci, Morgan Allen and Rachel Leeret.

Video: Hopkinton Scouts Beautify Walking Trails

As part of his Eagle-Scout project, Hopkinton Resident, Ethan Ritterbusch along with a team of Scouts worked hard this past summer to beautify the Hopkinton trails. The Scouts constructed 2 new walking trails on the Hughes property. Part of the project included construction of a 0.1 mile walking loop as well as a 0.23 mile trail. The Scouts also constructed walkways and bridges over waterways.

According to the DPW weather station, the highest temperature reached in Hopkinton September 9th-15th was 85.8 degrees, the lowest was 40.8 degrees. Average temperature during the week in Hopkinton was 62.6 degrees. Humidity was at an average of 83%, the peak was 98% while the lowest was 40%. Wind Speed averaged 0.2 MPH, while reaching a high of 7 MPH. Rain accumulated 0.34 inches last week in Hopkinton. Video: Town Manager, Norman Khumalo talks Eversource and Town of Hopkinton Hearing

Eversource and the Town of Hopkinton recently had a hearing moderated by Town Manager, Norman Khumalo. The issue was regarding the use of steel plates during the installation of an electric transmission line between South Street and West Main Street. Multiple vehicles were damaged due to the questionable security of the trench that was dug as part of the project.
