Hillers Sports Update 9-26-2016

- Hopkinton Hillers Field Hockey (4-1-2) lost to Nipmuc 1-0

- Hillers Girls Soccer (1-3-3) tied a tough Millis (5-3-1) team 0-0.

- Hillers Boys Soccer (3-3-1) ties Millis (2-4-2) 1-1

The 8th grade field hockey team dominated at Natick yesterday with a 3-0 win. Excellent offensive pressure the entire game prevented Natick from taking a single shot on goal. Two goals from Alyssa Souza and another from Sarah Doyle were all assisted by Tate Frederick. Nice job for such a solid team effort -kudos Team!

October's Fatima Day at the Shrine in Holliston

On Thursday, October 13th, the Xaverian Missionaries will hold the traditional Fatima Day celebration in honor of Our Lady. It is going to be our sixth and last Fatima Day of 2016. This year’s theme is connected to the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy - Mary Mother of Mercy. The evening begins with a sing-along at 6:30 PM and Mass at 7:00 PM. At 8:00 PM, there will be a Rosary and Candlelight procession followed by refreshments served in the Shrine’s Hall. The main celebrant and homilist will be Most Rev. Edgar Cunha - Bishop of Fall River.

Celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy at Fatima Shrine

The Xaverian Missionaries at Fatima Shrine, 101 Summer Street in Holliston, invite you to Clebrate the Jubilee of Mercy in the spirit of the Beatitudes. Our next gathering will be Sunday, October 9th, beginning at 3:30 PM and concluding at 6:00 PM. The Ninth Presentation will be guided by the organization Home for the Troops – Massachusetts. The theme will be “Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they will be called Children of God”.

All are welcome. No charge and no reservations needed. Donations are welcomed!

Hillers Sports Update 9-23-2016

High School Updates:

-HIllers Varsity Boys Soccer defeats Bellingham 6-0. Hillers improve to 2-3-0 on the season.

-Hillers Varsity Girls Soccer defeats Bellingham 6-1. Hillers earn their 1st win of the season and improves to 1-3-2.

-Dover-Sherborn defeats the Hillers on the golf course 211-215. Hillers golf is now 7-2 on the season.

Hopkinton Sophomore, Caitlyn Halloran Receives Boston Globe All Scholastics Award

Hopkinton Sophomore, Caitlyn Halloran was awarded the "Boston Globe All Scholastics Award". The award is given out to exceptional student athletes throughout the state.

The Boston Globe Article stated the following about Caitlyn: "After finishing first in the Division 3 pentathlon with a meet record 2,955 score, Halloran went on to win the All-State meet with another record of 3,028. She was also named the Outstanding Athlete at the Freshman-Sophomore meet."

myCause: Peter Mezitt and Team from Weston Nurseries Participating in Jimmy Fund Walk

Owner of Weston Nurseries, Peter Mezitt announced that he and a team of 5 from Weston Nurseries will be participating in the Jimmy Fund Walk this Sunday (Sept 25th). Peter mentioned this is the 10th year he will be participating in the walk and has multiple fundraising events at Weston Nurseries to benefit the Jimmy Fund. Tips from Angel's: Dealing with Drought Conditions

Throughout the summer, much of the state experienced drought and in some cases severe drought conditions as rainfall was at a minimum. Despite some recent rain, Hopkinton as well as many other communities still face an outdoor watering ban. Owner of Angel’s Garden Center, Jeff Doherty has some tips on ways to conserve water and to help you better deal with the drought conditions with his new segment on HCAM news called "Tips from Angel’s".

8th Grade Field Hockey opened at Westwood with a nail biter and a 0-0 result. Nice net by Sophie Driscoll and Vani Sharma combined with a strong offense and solid defense challenged the Westwood squad. Hillers Field Hockey stands at 4 wins, 2 ties, 0 losses after tying a tough Dover-Sherborn team 0-0. Dover-Sherborn is now 3 wins, 1 tie, 1 loss on the season. Hillers Field Hockey is next at home Friday (9/23) against Medfield at 3:30pm.
