The 17th Annual Pumpkin Prom – This Sunday!

The HPTA is honored to be taking over the Annual Pumpkin Prom event, a special father-daughter dance previously hosted by the Lion’s Club. The event will take place on October 27th from 5:30 until 8 pm in the Hopkins School gym and cafetorium. Fathers or other special adults can enjoy dancing with their daughters to music selected by D.J. Kathi Zerkle. There will be raffles, refreshments and a craft. Corsages and keepsake photos will be available for purchase.

Keefe Regional Technical High School Open House Nov. 23

Keefe Regional Technical High School will hold an Open House and Breakfast on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 8:30 am - 11:00 am for all middle school tudents and 9th and 10th Graders in Ashland, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton and Natick.

Hopkinton High School Pep Rally Playbacks

The 2013 Hopkinton High School Pep Rally will play back many times throughout the weekend. Saturday, October 26 playback times are 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM for HCAM-TV and 6:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:15 PM on HCAM-ED. Sunday, October 27 playback times are 12:00 PM and 9:00 PM on HCAM-TV and 8:10 AM, 6:30 PM, and 9:00 PM on HCAM-ED. The Pep Rally will continue to air for two weeks on HCAM-ED after the weekend. Planning Board Discusses Hopkinton Mews

Hopkinton Mews, an apartment community with affordable housing proposed for Lumber Street, may soon be moving to Hopkinton. A presentation for the Hopkinton Mews development was made to the Planning Board during their October 21 meeting by developer Robb Hewitt and property owner Paul Mastroianni. The Hopkinton Mews development is the updated apartment portion of the proposed Acres development. The hearing was continued as there are more items to be discussed during the next meeting.

Walk-a-thon In Honor of Shayne Desroches November 4

On Monday, November: 4th, the Hopkinton Middle School will host a 3-hour walk in memory of Shayne Desroches. “Shayne’s Walk-a-thon” will take place on the Hopkinton High School track from 6-9 PM.

“The goal of Shayne’s Walk-a-thon is to provide the opportunity for us all to join together and celebrate Shayne's life,” said Principal Alan Keller. “We hope that you and your family can join us to support Shayne's family and friends from Hopkinton and Holden, our students, and staff.”

Casino Impacts Learned from Norwich CT

With Milford’s referendum vote on the proposed casino set for November 19, the MetroWest Anti-Casino Coalition (MWACC) continues to gather information regarding the potential impacts on surrounding communities. On October 15, 2013, the MetroWest Anti-Casino Coalition met with City Officials of the City of Norwich, Connecticut to discuss their experience with Foxwoods Resort and Casino as a neighbor and business partner.

A summary of the lessons learned from the City of Norwich was scheduled for discussion by selectmen at their October 22 meeting.

Chairman Mosher Pens Two Letters Related to Proposed Casino

Two letters awaiting the Board of Selectmen’s approval were included with the agenda
for its October 22 meeting. One, addressed to Governor Deval Patrick, was a follow-up
to a previously unanswered letter stating Hopkinton’s concerns with the casino licensing
process, and the second was a letter to the Metropolitan Area Planning Council declining
the MAPC’s offer of professional services for the purpose of evaluating the impacts of the
proposed casino in Milford.

Hillers Shutout Clockers

The Middle School Boys’ Soccer team improved its record to 5-3-3 with a 3-0 victory against the Clockers in Ashland yesterday. Connor Delany scored three goals, the first assisted by Spencer McGrail and the second by Devon Rutter. Sam Worrell and Nate Pucci played very well from the opening whistle to the end. The Hiller boys’ conclude their season tomorrow with a home game on Field 5 vs Dedham at 4:00PM.
