Elementary School Building Committee - Volunteers Needed
Selectmen voted to approve the charter of the Elementary School Building Committee (ESBC) and appointed Vice Chairman John Mosher as their designee to the committee at their November 13 meeting. As approved, the mission of the committee is to facilitate the development of a proposed solution to the operational and educational constraints of Center School that will be supported by the voters of Hopkinton, as well as the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA).

The School Committee is in the process of reviewing its Public Records Policy and its CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) Policy, which will be continued at its December 20th meeting. The draft policies are available for your comment and can be viewed by clicking on the links below:

November Wake Up and Smell the Poetry Episodes Now Online
The first episode made from the live November Wake Up and Smell the Poetry event features a poetry panel of Susan Edwards Richmond, Richard Smyth, and Alice Weiss. All three poets contributed to the poetry anthology Liberty's Vigil, the Occupy Anthology: 99 Poets among the 99%. The next episode features historian Fred Marchant who discussed pacifism in poetry and related it all back to the Occupy movement of 2011. The musical episode features was Craig Sonnenfeld who performed his original songs for the audience.
Town of Hopkinton Seeks Facilities Maintenance Worker
Responsibilities include performance of semi-skilled, mechanical, and routine building and grounds maintenance tasks, as well as assistance and monitoring of contractors with building construction, maintenance, remodeling tasks, etc. in various fields such as carpentry; electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).

HCA Members Show December 14 – January 10
The artwork of its talented members will be featured at the HCA Members Show at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, 98 Hayden Rowe in Hopkinton from December 14 through January 10, 2013. A special reception, open to the public, will be held Friday, December 14 at 6:00 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., or by appointment. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Hopkinton Receives $400,000 for Elmwood Farm Acquisition
The Town of Hopkinton today received $400,000 to help preserve an 85-acre historic farm in a scenic part of town that is the former site of the Abbott Farm. The farm has a rich history, including formerly growing food for the Worcester County Food Bank. The preservation of the farm will provide many future uses for the Town, including potentially supporting a community sponsored agriculture (CSA) project. Preservation will also protect a portion of the aquifer for the town's new well.
