ESL’s USO Christmas Show December 7-8
Bob Hope, the Andrews Sisters, and Les Brown and his Band of Renown are just some of the entertainers that will be serenading the “troops” with music of the 1940s at Enter Stage Left’s USO Christmas Show at the Hopkinton High School on December 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $17 for adults and $13 for seniors and students.
K-9 Unit Searches High School - No Contraband or Illegal Substances Found
This morning, contraband seeking dogs did a sweep of areas of the Hopkinton High School building looking for illegal substances. One K-9 unit from Middlesex county was involved. The search included approximately 10 classrooms and students were not present in the classrooms during the search. Class remained in session and teaching activities continued during the approximately 45 minutes while the search was taking place. The dogs did not interact with any students during the search.
Selectmen Vote to Keep Single Tax Rate
At the Tax Classification Public Hearing on Tuesday, November 20, the Board of Selectmen voted to keep a single tax rate for all property classes for Fiscal Year 2013 (FY2013). The decision was made after a presentation by Principal Assessor Robert Bushway.
Hopkinton Drug Holiday Open House
Hopkinton Drug will celebrate its 24th Annual Holiday Open House on Saturday December 1 and Sunday December 2 from 10AM to 3PM. There will be fun events for the entire family including children's crafts & face painting with Olga of Noah's Art, a scavenger hunt, door prizes,raffles and food tastings. Santa will visit from 11-3PM on both days and pictures with Santa will be available, but be sure to bring your own camera.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the day.
Charles T. Dever, 73
Charles T. Dever, 73, of Hopkinton, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Anna and Dennis Dever. He was the husband of Beverly A. (Connolly) Dever of Hopkinton.
A Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, Charles was a member of the Local 537 Pipe Fitters Union as well as the American Legion.
Special Town Meeting: Tonight at 7PM - Middle School
Selectmen voted at their November 13th meeting to support and recommend all three warrant articles for the Special Town Meeting scheduled for Monday, November 26. The three articles going before voters are:
1) the Elmwood School Roof Replacement with a price tag of $1.1 million,
2) the Elm Street Sewer Extension for $220,000 and,
3) the Grove Street-Main Street Parcel Acquisition, a 206 square foot piece of landed gifted to the town by the Colella family.
Hopkinton Job Opening: Deputy Assessor
The Town of Hopkinton is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time position of Deputy Assessor. Responsibilities include; but not limited to inspection of residential properties due to building permits, sales verification, abatement review and cyclical re- inspection program. Verifies work completed and related values from on-site inspections and keeps department computer system (Patriot Assess-Pro) updated and accurate to facilitate preparation of periodic reports.
