Video: Annual Top of the Hill Ceremony Inducts 4 into HHS Hall of Fame

For the 3rd consecutive year, Hopkinton High School hosted the annual Top of the Hill Ceremony. The program started by HHS Assistant Principal, Josh Hanna recognizes Hopkinton High School alumni who have great achievements and contributions in their professional career or community.

This year 4 HHS Alumni were honored, Scott Mackin (Class of 1986), Mike Whalen (Class of 1968), Sarah Ellam (Class of 1998) and by surprise Josh Hannah (Class of 1995).

According to the DPW weather station, the highest temperature reached in Hopkinton November 12th through November 19th was 57.6 degrees, the lowest was 20.4 degrees. Average temperature during the month in Hopkinton was 37.3 degrees. Humidity was at an average of 81.6%, the peak was 97% while the lowest was 40%. Wind Speed averaged 1.1 MPH, while reaching a high of 9 MPH. Precipitation accumulated 1.28 inches last week in Hopkinton. Video: Hillers Football VS Melrose Recap 11-18-2017

The 10 and 0 Hopkinton Hillers took on the 10 and 0 Melrose Red Raiders in the Division 4 State Semi-Finals. All defense in the 1st quarter, but Melrose found the endzone to cap off a long drive in the 2nd. Later in the 2nd quarter, a costly mistake by the Melrose defense, they leave Ryan Kelleher's favorite target wide open. Will Abbott caught a touchdown pass and than threw a 2 point conversion pass to Matt Lindquist off the flea-flicker. Hillers remained up 8-7 at the half. The Melrose offense puts together another long drive to start the 3rd quarter.

Matthew Paul McDonald, 21

Matthew Paul McDonald, 21, of Hopkinton, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 one day before his 22nd birthday as the result of an automobile accident. Born in Winchester, he was the son of Marilyn (Albury) McDonald of Hopkinton and the late Kenneth McDonald.

A 2014 graduate of Hopkinton High School, Matthew had been employed at California Closets. Caring and helpful with a kind heart, Matthew always had a smile on his face. He was the life of the party and a happy go lucky guy.

The Hopkinton Hillers Girls Volleyball team have completed another unbelievable season. After winning 2 of the last 3 Division 2 State Championships, this years Hiller Girls Volleyball team swept 5 straight matches during their 1st appearance in the Division 1 playoff bracket before falling to Newton North 3-0 in the state finals.

Video: Planning Board Discusses 147 Lumber Street Plan

At this past weeks planning board meeting in addition to a public hering regarding whisper ridge and 143 spring street, they also continued the public hearing about 147 lumber street. The site developers presented changes to the proposed plan that were made since last meeting.
