Water Main Replacement Work Begins on June 17

Update: Construction is scheduled to start this Monday, June 17th. The detour will be in effect for eastbound traffic starting at the intersection of Main Street and Pleasant Street, Monday through Friday - 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

UPDATE - The Town, Police Department, Contractor and Engineer met at the site Monday afternoon regarding maintaining 2 lanes of traffic in Main Street during construction. After laying out the construction zone, the roadway is not quite wide enough in this area to maintain 2-lanes of traffic safely. As such, construction is being delayed to Monday June 10, 2013 to provide time for notification for a traffic detour in the eastbound lane.

Foxwoods to Present Plan to Milford Board of Selectmen on Monday Night

Casino-Free Milford, a grassroots movement of Milford citizens concerned about the proposed development of a destination resort casino in town, is encouraging all Milford residents to attend Monday night’s Board of Selectmen’s meeting to hear the details of Foxwoods’ plans for the casino project to be developed on 200 acres of land east of I-495. This meeting was originally scheduled to take place in Town Hall, but has been rescheduled for the auditorium of Milford High School at 7:00 PM.

Alta Legacy Farms Affordable Housing Lottery to be held on July 18

Applications are now being accepted for 60 new affordable apartments at Alta Legacy Farms. Completed applications and the required income documentation must be received, not postmarked, by 2PM on Monday, July 8, 2013 with the lottery drawing to follow on Thursday, July 18 in Room 215 in Hopkinton’s Town Hall, located at 18 Main Street, Hopkinton, MA.

Monthly rent is $1,255 for 1-bedroom units and $1,398 for two-bedroom units and does not include any utilities except for water and sewer. Maximum income limits for households are as follows:

Knife Assault by Man in a Gorilla Suit on West Main St.

On Sunday May 19, 2013, at approximately 7:08 pm, Hopkinton police responded to a West Main St. business on the report of a person dressed in a gorilla suit brandishing a knife. Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim who reported he was assaulted by a subject in a gorilla suit armed with a knife.

The victim ran inside the store and alerted the Hopkinton police of the incident. The victim was able to give police a partial description of the motor vehicle the subject fled in.
