The Hopkinton Garden Club is soliciting applications for its 2018 Scholarship available to applicants maintaining legal residence in Hopkinton, Massachusetts for at least one year. Scholarships are available for high school or college students or any adult interested in pursuing a career in the fields of Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Design, Forestry, Conservation, Environmental Sciences or related fields.

Due to the weather, Hopkinton has cancelled the following meetings that were scheduled for this evening, Wednesday February 7th:

Center School Re-Use Advisory Team
Board of Appeals
Hopkinton Historic District Commission
Upper Charles Trail Committee
Trustees of the School Fund

Tickets are available now for Live4Evan's Red Tie Gala to be held Saturday, March 3, 7:00 pm at the Crystal Room in Milford. Help them reach their goal of $30,000 for temporary housing for families of children being treated for congenital heart disease at Boston hospitals. Tickets are $75.00 per person until February 19, and $85.00 each after that and are available through live4evan.org.

As part of the 2018 Boston Marathon, the Boston Athletic Association will celebrate “A Year of Service.” Among the events to take place will be the Boston Marathon Military Relay, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Military Relay. In 1918, the traditional running of the Boston Marathon was not able to occur due to the expanded role of the United States in World War One. Instead, teams of uniformed sailors and soldiers passed a baton along the length of the Boston Marathon course, and the annual nature of the race was preserved.

The knitting club at the Hopkinton Senior Center is making red hats for the Little Hats Big Hearts campaign, sponsored by the American Heart Association. The campaign's goal is to provide hats for all babies born in the month of February to raise awareness for congenital heart defects. Live4Evan, whose mission is to provide temporary housing for families whose children are being treated for CHD at Boston hospitals, is collecting the hats which will be distributed locally.

At this past weeks Board of Selectmen meeting, 5 Boys Scouts who earned the rank of Eagle Scouts were recognized and received proclamations for their community service. View Video Below.

Hopkinton Water & Sewer Manager, Eric Carty filled us in with how the DPW has been dealing with the wide array of Weather Patterns this winter and also gave us a look at the new Hopkinton DPW facility at 83 Wood Street which is currently in full service. View the video below.
