Sheriff Koutoujian announces applications for 2017 Youth Public Safety Academy

BILLERICA, Mass. – Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian today announced applications are now available for youngsters wishing to participate in the 2017 Youth Public Safety Academy (YPSA).

Now in its 18th year, YPSA provides a safe, educational, low-cost summer camp option for Middlesex County youth. For the first time, the camp will now be open to children ages 8-12, where in prior years those ages 9-11 were eligible.

Some of the many Brilliant minds of Hopkinton High School showed off some of their work at the annual Science & Engineering fair. This year 28 projects were on display and the 12 winning projects got the chance to qualify for the regional science & engineering fair on March 10th. The contest featured 16 judges and the fair was sponsored by the Hopkinton Parent Teacher Association, Bose Corporation and Perkins Elmer.

Vegetable gardening is something everyone can enjoy, from the novice to the experienced gardener. It can be a way to bring fresh food to your table, teach children where food comes from or even a way to beautify your yard! We’ll look at different types of vegetable gardens and discuss layout, variety choices and growing techniques.

Town of Hopkinton to Begin Automated Trash Collection

The Town of Hopkinton will begin automated collection of trash and recyclables on March 27,
2017 through its contractor, EL Harvey. EL Harvey will collect your trash and recyclables using
wheeled carts that will be loaned to you by EL Harvey at no cost to you or the Town. You will
receive a new trash calendar in the mail from EL Harvey that details the process.

Notice Regarding Open Seat on Hopkinton Housing Authority

Hopkinton Town Clerk, Connor Degan sent the below notice correcting a notice sent out on February 17th. The February 17th notice stated that the open seat for the Hopkinton Housing Authority would not be an elected position due to new state regulations but since that notice was sent out, it has been determined that Hopkinton is unaffected by the changes at the state level therefore the Hopkinton Housing Authority open seat WILL be up for election in the upcoming Annual Town Election! Hopkinton Student Named Massachusetts National Geographic State Bee Semifinalist

Alexander "Sasha" Fomin of Hopkinton Middle School has been notified by the National Geographic Society that he is one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2017 Massachusetts National Geographic State Bee. The contest will be held at Elms College in Chicopee on Friday, March 31, 2017.
