On October 4th, the Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce and Middlesex Savings Bank held a ceremony to recognize the many contributors to the Hopkinton Library renovation and expansion project. Speakers included Marion C. Intinarelli and Jon Auger of Middlesex Savings Bank, Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce President, Scott Richardson, Board of Selectmen Chair, John Coutinho, Hopkinton Library Foundation President, Laura Barry and Hopkinton Library Director, Heather Backman. Middlesex savings bank also presented many of the contributors to the project with certificates for their efforts.

Tickets are selling quickly for Hopkinton’s Event of the Century: “A Novel Affair – A Literary Cocktail Benefit”. This once in a lifetime event celebrating the past and future of our beloved Library, will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017, from 7:30-10:30 PM, in the newly renovated and expanded Hopkinton Public Library. In the first two weeks of sales, nearly 75% of the tickets have been purchased for this highly anticipated event, and it is expected that tickets will sell out well in advance.

Included in the last Board of Selectmen meeting, DPW director John Westerling gave an update on some of the tasks and projects of the hardworking Hopkinton Department of Public Works (DPW) department. The Board of Selectmen also invited the NBA champion Golden State Warriors to Hopkinton to celebrate their championship. View the news segment and full meeting below.

Water & Sewer Director, Eric Carty gave an update about the new Water Tank that is in the process of being installed on Hayden Rowe. The tank was nearly completely installed last week, some more work needs to be done to make the tank functional and tie it in to the water supply. The project is estimated to be finished sometime in November 2017. View more in the news segment below.

A public forum was held at the Hopkinton Senior Center to discuss the Downtown Corridor Project. Town Manager, Norman Khumalo shared some of the background of the project which has been discussed for nearly 20 years. John Bechard of VHB presented the proposed $8,000,000 plan. Hearing held today before Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security

BOSTON – Middlesex County law enforcement officials today voiced support for legislation allowing county sheriffs to establish regional lockup facilities.

BOSTON – The Senate today restored $24.9M to the Fiscal Year 2018 budget, overriding 26 of Governor Baker’s line item vetoes, which totaled $320.6M. These veto overrides bolster valuable programs for children, families and vulnerable residents across the Commonwealth.

The following is a statement from Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans, Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes, Somerville Police Chief David Fallon and Framingham Police Chief Kenneth Ferguson:

Today we join with colleagues from across the country asking Congress to support legislation allowing “young people brought to the United States as children - to remain in the United States and continue contributing to our communities and our nation.”

Library Grand Opening October 16!

The Hopkinton Public Library Trustees and staff are excited to announce the library's Grand Opening at 13 Main Street! Please join us at 11 am on Monday, October 16 for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

After the ribbon cutting, Library Trustees will lead tours of the building from 11:30 am-2 pm and from 5-7 pm.

Refreshments will be available, courtesy of Snappy Dogs and the Library Trustees.

The Children's and Young Adult librarians will offer fun drop-in activities to welcome kids and teens to the library.
