Board of Assessors Prepares for Tax Season at November 13th Meeting

On Thursday, November 13th, the Board of Assessors met to discuss a number of issues for the upcoming tax season.

They first briefly discussed two properties that will be up for sale that the town is considering purchasing. The Richards and Coolidge properties have expressed an intent to sell, and the town might consider purchasing these properties.

Hopkinton's 2015 Marathon Invitational Entries Lottery Process in now open

In accordance with Section 2 of the Hopkinton Marathon Policy, the Board of Selectmen invites applications for the upcoming 2015 Boston Marathon in the following manner:

Invitational entry applications will be distributed to qualified organizations through a random selection that will take place at a Board of Selectmen meeting on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. In order to qualify for the random selection, an organization must fit one of two category descriptions outlined in the Town’s Marathon Policy, namely:

On November 6, 2014 the Board of Selectmen publicly acknowledged the resignation of a member of the Hopkinton Planning Board and are currently seeking candidates for this position.

Pursuant to Town Charter provision 3-1(e), a joint meeting, consisting of the remaining members of the Hopkinton Planning Board and the members of the Board of Selectmen, will convene at a regularly scheduled Board of Selectmen meeting to appoint an individual to temporarily fill this one seat until the next Annual Town Election in May of 2015.

Stop Sign, Parks and Rec Appointment, and Eagle Scout Projects Heard at BOS

The Board of Selectmen held their biweekly meeting on Thursday, November 6th, due to the election held on Tuesday the 4th.

With a packed agenda, the board began with a public forum, where they acknowledged Patti Howell's recent certification as a Massachusetts Accredited Assessor. They also brought to the public's attention the recent resignation of Planning Board member Deb Holbrook, and made known the need for a new planning board member.

Senator in Congress race: Brian Herr received 3,680 votes compared to Ed Markey's 2,477.

Massachusetts Governor: Charlie Baker received 3,754 votes compared to Martha Coakley's 2,243

Attorney General: Maura Healy received 3,073 votes compared to John B. Miller's 2,929

Secretary of State: William Francis Galvin received 3,530 votes compared to David D'Arcangelo's 2,237

Treasurer: Michael James Heffernan received 3,174 votes compared to Deborah B. Goldberg's 2,499
