Fire Station Open House October 6

The Hopkinton Fire Department will open their station to the public for the Annual Open House on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 11am to 2pm at Fire Headquarters, 73 Main street, Hopkinton, MA 01748.

Residents and children will have the opportunity to view demonstrations, learn about fire safety, and tour the station. Refreshments will be provided and Sparky the Fire Dog is expected to make an appearance.

DPW Installing New Meter Units

Please be advised that the DPW water and sewer division will be installing new outside water meter reading units at customer’s homes and business in the Wood Street vicinity. In most cases this does not require entry into the home. However, in some instances technicians may need to gain access to your basement to make the necessary connection.

On Saturday October 05, 2013, in support of the HPTA, Hopkinton Police Officers Pat O’Brien and Steve Buckley will be at the HPTA Fall Carnival from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Town Common.

Lumber Street will be closed on Friday and Saturday, October 4th and 5th, from 7:30 am through 5:00 pm from Granite Street to the Milford town line. Please seek alternate routes.

The road closure is necessary to complete a paving operation.

"Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience," said John Westerling, Director of Public Works.

Representative Dykema and Colleagues Urge Congress to Amend Federal Flood Insurance Law

Representative Carolyn Dykema and 50 state legislative colleagues are urging the Massachusetts Congressional delegation to advance HR2199, the Flood Insurance Implementation Reform Act. The proposed legislation would update the federal Biggert-Watters Act, passed in 2012, to ensure the fiscal sustainability of the federal flood insurance program that has provided subsidized flood insurance to residents of flood-prone areas across the country since 1968.
