Steel Beams Rise from the Ground: Construction on Our New Library Continues!

This fall, construction continues on the restoration, renovation and expansion of the Hopkinton Public Library at 13 Main Street. The steel structure for the addition to our Library can now be seen rising from the newly poured foundation. Construction on the site began on April 11, 2016, and will continue until the expected opening of our new Library in late Summer 2017.

Miniature Gardens Galore at Weston Nurseries

Despite the chilly weather, there is no reason you can't keep a tiny garden on your windowsill. Head to Weston Nurseries on Sunday, November 6 at 2:00 PM to make your own miniature garden. Using moss, soil, stones and a mini plant, you will learn how to create a miniature wonderland.

There is a $30 fee that includes soil, moss, stone, and one mini plant. Container, extra plants, and accessories are sold a la carte.

The program is suitable for ages 7 and up.

The contest was created to empower parents to connect with their children one meal at a time and aims to make cooking an enjoyable activity that brings families together.

Henry will demonstrate how to create arrangements to brighten your table or your favorite gathering place using readily available greens and decorations.

According to the DPW weather station, the highest temperature reached in Hopkinton last week was 60.9 degrees, the lowest was 25.7 Average temperature during the week in Hopkinton was 44 degrees. Humidity was at an average of 71.6%, the peak was 97% while the lowest was 28%. Wind Speed averaged 1.6 MPH, while reaching a high of 8 MPH. Precipitation accumulated 0.85 inches last week in Hopkinton. You can see all the averages for Hopkinton below and be on the lookout for future weather updates in Hopkinton.

Early Registration for Against the Tide

Registration for the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition's Against the Tide event is now open. The event will take place at the Hopkinton State Park on Saturday, June 17 in 2017 and at Nickerson State Park in Brewster on Saturday, August 19, 2017.

The race will start at 8:30 AM with the competitive swim/aquathon and 5K/10K run portions. The walk portion will be at 8:50 AM, the recreational swim will be at 9:45 AM, and the kayaking event will be at 10:45 AM. Participants can take part in one, two, or three of the events in any combination.

Curtain rises on ‘Pippin’ November 17

The Hopkinton High School drama troupe will present the beloved Broadway musical, “Pippin” November 17-20.

Pippin is a Tony Award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger O. Hirson. Bob Fosse, who directed the original Broadway production, also contributed to the libretto. The musical tells the story of Pippin, a young prince and the son of King Charlemagne, on his search for meaning and significance. Its many memorable songs include “No Time at All,” “Magic to Do,” “Corner of the Sky,” and “Morning Glow.”

Celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy in November

The Xaverian Missionaries at Fatima Shrine invite you to Celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy in the spirit of the Beatitudes. Our next gathering will be on November 13 at Fatima Shrine, 101 Summer Street in Holliston beginning at 3:30 PM and concluding at 6:00 PM. The tenth and last presentation for the year will be guided by Sr. Maria Luisa Dallari and the Xaverian Missionary Sisters of Mary. The theme will be “Corporal Works of Mercy - Ministry with the Poor in Worcester”.

All are welcome. No charge and no reservations needed. Donations are welcomed!
