Pancake Breakfast planned to support Hopkinton’s 300th anniversary

HOPKINTON, MA (August 28, 2014) – Support Hopkinton's 300th anniversary by eating pancakes! There will be a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Knights of Columbus on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at St. John's Parish Hall in Hopkinton from 8AM to 12 Noon.

Tickets: $5 Adults, $20/Family
$4 Seniors & Students

Fatima Day at the Shrine in Holliston

On Saturday September 13th, the Xaverian Missionaries will hold the traditional Fatima Day celebration in honor of Our Lady. The theme for this year’s Fatima Day celebrations is on: THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES.” Sing-along at 6:30pm. Mass at 7:00pm. The main celebrant and homilist will be Fr. Adolph Menendez, sx. Fr. Adolph, lives in Holliston – MA, but hails from New York City and has worked for almost 30 years in the missions: first in Japan and then in Mexico. At present he is, together with Fr. Rocco, the Co-Director of the Global Youth Mission Services (GYM).

On Thursday September 4, 2014 the Hopkinton Public Schools will be back in session. All School Zone Speed Signs located around the public schools entrances have been turned on and are in working order. The lawful speed limit in a school zone during school hours is 20 mph. Hopkinton Police Officers will be out monitoring and enforcing speed limits. With the nice weather that we are experiencing there will be several students walking or riding their bikes to school. The crosswalks around the schools will be monitored and enforced.

Bishop Gayle Harris to Visit St. Paul’s Sept. 7

HOPKINTON, MASS. (August 26, 2014) – The Rt. Reverend Gayle E. Harris, Bishop Suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, will be visiting St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 61 Wood Street (Rte. 135 ) in Hopkinton on September 7. During her visitation Bishop Harris will be the principal celebrant at the 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist service, and will meet with the congregation at a lunch reception following the service. All are welcome to attend the 10:30 a.m. service.

Boston Magazine Ranks Hopkinton High School 24th Best in Greater Boston Area

Boston Magazine provided more evidence at how strong the Hopkinton school system is, as they ranked the top 50 best public schools in Massachusetts, and Hopkinton High School came in at 24th!

Hopkinton Emergency Management Offers Tips for Family Hurricane Preparedness

The Hopkinton Emergency Management Group with the assistance of The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is offering personal hurricane preparedness tips to all of the citizens of our community. The three key tips for preparing for hurricanes, as well any potential emergencies or disasters are to build a kit, create a plan and stay informed.

Visioning Steering Group Gives Update to Planning Board

Tim Kilduff from the Visioning Steering Group appeared before the Planning Board during their August 25 meeting to give an update to the Board. A lot of work has been done by the Group and the Group is preparing a survey that will be sent out to the community during the week of September 1. Many members of the Group were in attendance as Kilduff gave his report.

Greyhound Friends Needs Your Support!

Greyhound Friends began leasing the old kennel and land at 167 Saddle Hill Road, Hopkinton on May 1, 1987. Finances were slim and sporadic at the beginning. For several years I lived in the tiny office of the kennel. It was quite awful. But Greyhound Friends took hold, as people steadily adopted dogs and the word spread about these wonderful pets. A steady flow of funds, however, was and still is usually difficult to attain.
