Marathon Quilters will host their bi-annual quilt show on September 28th and 29th, 2013 at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.

Saturday, September 28th 10 am to 5 pm
Sunday, September 29th 12 noon to 5 pm

Admission is $5, or $3 for senior citizens. Children 12 and under are free.

The show will include dozens of quilts made by local guild members, a quilt boutique, quilts for sale, and a drawing for a quilt made by the entire guild.

On Monday, September 30, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Rep. Carolyn Dykema invite local seniors to an important program about how seniors can better protect themselves from scams and abuse.

The program will feature remarks from Ryan, Dykema, Police Chief John Moore, Selectman Jay Marsden and Christine Falzarano, Vice President, Eagle Bank and will address safe banking, how seniors can remain safely in their homes, and how to avoid lottery and other scams that target the elderly. Service providers will also outline what resources are available to seniors.

The Natick Fire Fighters Union Local 1707 has endorsed Karen Spilka for Congress. Karen has the overwhelming support of organized labor in the congressional special election for the Fifth District; 34 labor groups are now backing her campaign.

The Hopkinton Garden Club has joined “Marathon Daffodils” in a collaborative project designed to strengthen our community by bringing beauty to where there was unfathomable loss, mayhem and sadness.

Town of Hopkinton’s Public Library seeks PT (Up to 19 Hrs/Week) Temporary Library Technician – The Library Technician will perform all tasks related to the daily operations of the Library and the circulation desk. Assists in opening and closing of the Library. Retrieves and checks in all Library materials from the drop off boxes outside the Library.

In a press release dated September 25, 2013, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services cites the top 10 reasons why the Affordable care Act is good for Massachusetts:

10. Creates new protections to ensure your insurance plan covers you when you need it. Massachusetts already has strong insurance protections. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) enhances these protections by eliminating limits on the amount of benefits you can receive.

The Hopkinton Hiller Volleyball teams will host a DIG PINK match at the Hopkinton High School Athletic Center on Wednesday, October 2nd, to raise awareness of the importance of early detection in the fight against breast cancer.

The Hillers will be facing the Ashland Clockers on this special night. The fun begins at 5:30 with the JV match at the High School Athletic Center and the Freshman match at the Hopkinton Middle School Brown Gym. The Varsity match will start at approximately 6:30pm at the Athletic Center.

The Planning Board met with Town Manager Norman Khumalo to discuss the Master Plan Update for Hopkinton during their September 23 meeting.

“Most recently, the Selectmen set as one of the Town Manager’s goals working, collaborating with the Planning Board and all of the stakeholders to complete a visioning process for the town,” Khumalo began.
