HHS ALPINE SKI TEAM SENDS 6 TO CHAMPIONSHIP

Hopkinton High School Athletics is proud to announce that it is sending six of its athletes to the
2019 MIAA Alpine Ski State Championship, held at Wachusett Mountain in Princeton,
Massachusetts on February 27th. At the state championship, racers have the opportunity to
compete against the top high school racers from across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
This is the third year of the Hopkinton High School Alpine Ski Team. Consisting of 19 athletes
(15 boys and 4 girls), the team competes in the Central Mass Conference Ski League (CMCSL).

Hopkinton Hillers Boys Basketball finished off the regular season as a playoff qualifier with a record of 14 and 6. Their last regular season game was a 63-57 win over the Wayland Warriors. The win gave the Hillers the 4th seed in the Central Division 2 sectionals and Wayland got knocked down to the 5th seed and set up a Hillers-Wayland rematch to open the 1st round of the 2018-2019 state tournament. The Hillers-Wayland rematch will take place at the Hopkinton Athletic Center, Wednesday February 27th at 6:30pm.

Hopkinton Hillers Playoff Update 2-26-2019

-Hopkinton Hillers Boys Basketball earned the 4th seed in the Central Division 2 sectionals and will host 5th seeded Wayland on Wednesday February 27th at 6:30pm. Hopkinton finished the regular season 14 and 6, Wayland finished 13 and 7.

-Hopkinton Hillers Boys Hockey earned the 11th seed in the South Division 3 bracket and will take on 6th seeded Bishop Stang on Thursday February 28th at 6pm. The game will take place at Gallo Arena in Bourne, MA. Hopkinton finished the regular season 12-6-2 while Bishop Stang finished 14-5-1.

On Tuesday February 19th. Hopkinton Hillers Boys Basketball had their regular season finale against the Wayland Warriors. Both teams entered the game with 13 wins and 6 losses and were fighting for home-court advantage in the playoffs.

In the 1st quarter, Wayland outscored Hopkinton 19-12. Xander Livingston netted 10 points in the quarter for the Warriors. In the 2nd quarter, Steven Maffiore netted a pair of 3's and Brendan Kelly racked up a couple field goals to help the Hillers outscored Wayland 20-14. Wayland led at the half 33-32.

On Wednesday February 13th, the Hillers took on Grafton. Both teams entered the game at 11 wins 6 losses. Hopkinton remained in control pretty much the entire game. The Hillers outscored Grafton in the 1st quarter 20-11. three different players had 2 field goals for Hopkinton.

In the 2nd quarter, Hopkinton outscored Grafton 15-10. Michael Poovakad had 5 points in the quarter, Hillers led 35-21 at the halftime break. In the 3rd quarter, Steven Maffiore lit up the score board knocking down three 3-pointers. Hopkinton outscored Grafton 19 to 9 and led 54-30 heading to the 4th.

Video: Hopkinton Hillers Boys Basketball Clinches Playoff Spot with Win Over Norton

On February 5th, the 9 and 5 Hiller Boys were just 1 win away from clinching a playoff spot when they battled Norton this past Tuesday. After leading 10-8 heading into the 2nd quarter, the Hillers put up a whopping 23 points in the 2nd quarter to outscore the Lancers 23-12. Brendan Kelly and McCallum Lind each contributed a pair of field goals in the quarter. Hillers led 33-20 at the half.

On Wednesday, February 6th the Hopkinton Hillers Boys Hockey team celebrated Senior night prior to their game with Westwood. The Hillers Hockey team features three seniors on the roster this year: Cole Thomas, Steven Simoes and Luke Glidden. Westwood ended up taking the 4-3 victory over the Hillers in a very good back and forth battle. Steven Simoes and Sean Walsh each contributed a goal and an assist in the game. Westwood is now 9-1-5 on the season, Hillers falls to 10-5-2. View highlights of the senior night festivities and game below.
